About

The Foundation’s aim is to promote the education (including social and physical training) of young people between the ages of 11-24 years.

Where does the grant
money come from?

The Foundation’s history is linked to that of Bishop Fox’s School, which can be traced back to 1522 and Richard Fox, the Bishop of Winchester.

In 1940 a new Bishop Fox’s School was built by the Local Education Authority, and the redundant school buildings and site remained with the Charity.  The sale of these created a fund and the annual income from this provides the grants.

In 1991 the Charity was re-established as the Bishop Fox’s Educational Foundation with the aim of benefiting young people in Taunton Deane to enhance their education.
How is the Foundation's
income spent?

Every year, we award around £100,000. to students, schools and organisations supporting young people within Taunton - a phenomenal amount, creating a legacy of achievement and opportunity.
